How does it work?

When you place your order at the coffee shop, ask the barista to pour your coffee into a Quppa. You check out the cup with our web-app (no download required!), and can enjoy your waste-free coffee on the go. Finished with the cup? Hand it in at one of the participating coffee bars, they will wash it.

How do I get started with Quppa?

Surf to app.quppa.be to create your account. You can register with your email address, or via social login of Facebook or Google. Then choose your membership. Currently we offer a Basic (free) and a Premium (paying) membership. After completing these steps, you can borrow cups from all participating locations. Welcome to the community!

How many cups can I borrow at once?

As a Basic (free) user, you can borrow one cup at a time. Premium members can have up to 5 cups on their account at the same time.

Where & how can I return the Quppa cup? 

Cups can be handed in at all participating locations. In the web app you'll find a map with all the points, so you can easily find the coffee bars near you. To return your cup, just hand it to the barista and they will mark it as returned. You don't need your phone for this.

How do I know how long I have to return the cup?

The web-app shows an overview of all the cups you have in your possession, and the time you have left to return them. We ask you to return the cups within 7 days of borrowing them.

What happens if I do not return the cup within 7 days?

At this time, there is no consequence if you keep a cup for more than 7 days. We do ask that you respect this time limit so that we can keep the cups in good condition. If a cup remains dirty for too long, permanent stains may develop, requiring us to remove the cup from the loop for recycling!

What if I lose a cup?

If you lose your cup, you will have one less cup credit on your account, which means you will not be able to borrow as many new cups. Please note that at the moment we have a fair use policy for Premium users. This means that if you accidentally lose a cup (e.g. forgotten on the train), you can contact us to restore the lost cup to your account. Of course we will not tolerate abuse.

 What if my cup is damaged?

Please return your cup to one of the participating locations, and do not throw it in the trash or plastic waste! The barista will accept the damaged cup, and mark it as returned on your account. Quppa collects the damaged cups so they can be recycled separately by our partner Borealis. If you are ever offered a damaged cup by a barista, please refuse it, as it needs to be removed from the system.

 How will my personal data be handled?

Your personal data is stored on a secure server located within the European Union. Payment information is tokenized and stored by our payment integration partner Stripe, we do not have access to it ourselves. Quppa will never share your personally identifiable information with third parties unless absolutely necessary to fulfill our agreement with you as a customer (e.g., to process payments). How much is Quppa?

You can use Quppa for free as a Basic user. Or upgrade to Premium to enjoy even more zero waste coffees!

 What is the Basic membership?

The basic membership is our free offer, intended for occasional users and those who want to try Quppa before paying for the Premium membership. As a Basic user, you can check out one cup at a time and are limited to four loan times per month.

Is it really free for sporadic users?

Absolutely! We want to give everyone the chance to enjoy the zero waste feeling! No hidden fees or credit card required. However, we reserve the right to make changes to our free format in the future, such as changing the number of cups that can be loaned per month. Should the free membership be modified, we will notify you well in advance.

How can I cancel my Basic membership?

The Basic membership cannot be cancelled. If you no longer wish to use our service, you may choose to delete your account. To do so, please contact support@quppa.be.

 What is the Premium membership?

Premium membership is our paid offering, designed for frequent users. As a Premium user, you can check out up to 5 cups at a time, and borrow as many times as you like.

 Does my Premium membership automatically renew?

Yes, at the end of the year your Premium membership is automatically renewed for the next year. If you do not want this, you can cancel your subscription before the end of the year. You will be informed well in advance.

How do I cancel my Premium membership?

Go to app.quppa.be on mobile or desktop, and navigate to the 'My Account' section. Click on the tab 'My Membership' to get an overview of your current membership. Click on 'unsubscribe' to start the unsubscription process. You will receive an automatic confirmation by email. If you cancel within 14 days of purchase you are entitled to a refund.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you cancel your Premium membership within 14 days of purchase, you are entitled to a refund. Please note that if you still have cups in your possession at the time of cancellation, we will have to deduct €1.5 per cup. But don't worry, if this is the case we will warn you before you cancel your membership. That way you still have the chance to return the cups and enjoy a full refund!

What material are the cups made of?

Our cups are made from 100% food-grade polypropylene (PP). People often ask us why we use plastic instead of natural materials like bamboo or coffee grounds. The answer is that PP has many advantages over other materials. It is easy to recycle, resistant to detergents, has a long life and low weight. If plastics are used within a closed system (like Quppa) and properly collected for recycling, the carbon footprint is lower than for other materials.

Our cups are exclusively made in Belgium.

What makes the Quppa cups smart?

All cups are uniquely identified using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. Each cup is marked with a small tag that is read at different times throughout the cup cycle. This is for example the case when borrowing and returning the cups. The RFID tag is comparable to a barcode, but invisible to the user. This system enables us to link a specific cup directly to your account. It also allows us to measure how often the cups are reused, which helps us to understand the lifecycle of the cups. The tags only contain a unique number and cannot be used to determine your location, so don't worry!

Is Quppa hygienic?

Yes, the cups are cleaned in the dishwasher at a high temperature. Just like the crockery you would use in the coffee shop! Because we keep track of how often the cups are reused, we can automatically remove cups that have reached the end of their lifecycle from the system. These cups are collected separately so they can be recycled by our partner Borealis.

Can I return the cup dirty?

Yes, of course! But if you keep the cups for longer than 3 days, we think it's handy to rinse them, because then they are easier to clean afterwards. It also extends the life of the cups.

What advantages does Quppa offer my business?

With Quppa you save waste, money, and make a statement. You'll be featured on our website and in our app. Our system is designed to take away all the hassle around reusable packaging. With smart Quppa cups, you don't have to worry about registering deposits in your POS system. We ensure that you always have a stock of reusable cups. The connection of new customers is arranged in our app, so we keep track of who has borrowed how many cups. So you don't have to worry about your customers losing or damaging the cups, because that's our responsibility! This gives us a strong motivation to develop a system where the cups last as long as possible, and are actually recycled at the end of their life.

What if I run out of coffee mugs?

With our smart system, we can monitor the stock of cups in your coffee shop. If you run out of cups, we proactively schedule a delivery to replenish the stock. The same applies if you have too many cups. Was there a mistake on our part and have we really run out of stock? Just contact us and we'll fix it as soon as possible.

Can my logo be printed on the cups?
